Nine current Princeton fencers and recent graduates took part in the Korea-USA Elite Fencing Invitational that ran from August 3-8 in Busan, South Korea.

The event, hosted by Dong Eui University, matched fencers from South Korean universities with those from eight U.S. schools, including Brown, Columbia, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Penn, Princeton, Stanford and Yale.

Princeton's entrants on the men's side included 2011 graduates Mike Elfassy, an epeeist, and John Stogin, a saberist, along with senior foilist Alexander Mills and junior epeeists Edward Kelley and Jonathan Yergler. The women's contingent included junior epeeist Phoebe Caldwell, senior foilist Lucile Jarry, sophomore foilist Hyun-Kyung Yuh and sophomore saberist Diamond Wheeler.

Yergler won his first four matches before falling to Daejon University's Sung Kook Jeong in the epee final, while Kelley won his first two matches before falling to Daejon's Soo Young Park, one match short of a semifinal that would have pitted him against Yergler. Elfassy fell in his first-round match to Stanford's Kian Ameli. Following Yergler's runner-up, Kelley finished ranked sixth while Elfassy placed 26th.

Mills, the Most Outstanding Performer at the 2011 Ivy League championship meet, won one match before falling to Jae Kyu Joeng of Korea National Sport University on his way to placing 11th.

On the women's side, Caldwell won one match before falling to Ji Sun Kim of Woosuk University before placing 15th. Jarry and Yuh were each dealt first-round defeats, Jarry to Joo Won Jung of Woosuk and Yuh to Mi Hyun Park of Daegu University. Jarry placed 17th and Yuh 23rd. Wheeler won two matches before eventual champion Jee Soo Yoon of host Dong Eui defeated her in the quarterfinal. Wheeler finished placing eighth.
