We at Lourus have always prided ourselves on our commitment to honor the veterans of the Korean War for their services and sacrifices. Continuing with our tradition, we are holding this year’s Run for Loves in Songdo, Incheon, to commemorate the “Operation Chromite”, a crucial battle during the Korean War. Also known as “the Battle of Incheon”, the victory in this strategic battle in September, 1950, eventually led to the successful recapture of Seoul for the United Nations. The majority of UN ground forces were U.S. Marines who played a significant role during the operation.

We are deeply honored to have Staff Sergeant Ken Dower and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Edward N. Wood, U.S. Marine veterans of the Inchon Landing and Chosen Reservoir, to join us this year for our Run for Loves fundraising event. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to veterans of the Korean War organizations.

Tour 1: [Route 10] Jeju Olle
This route leads to Hwasun Beach, Mt. Sanbang, and Mt.Songak, eventually reaching Hamo-ri Beach. It is a coastal trail. The site under Mt. Sanbang has been opened to the public for first time. There is a crater in the peak of Mt. Songak. Mara-do (the southernmost island of Korea) and Gapa –do (island) can be viewed from the peak on most days. When walkers turn around they will see Mt. Halla overlooking the smaller mountains and Oreums (small inactive volcanoes).

Tour 2: Hyeopjae Beach
Hyeopjae Beach is one of the popular places that many people visit in summer. The water is relatively shallow, but you should be careful not to float away into the deep ocean as there are many spots that are deeper. The white sand beach has extra fine sand mixed with shells that glitters with silver, and the emerald-colored water is crystal clear. At night with a bright moon, you won’t need the help of street lights to be in a romantic mood. Hyeopjae Beach, is where the summer romance that people dream of lies.
